Here are descriptions of where Mel will be conducting workshops in the spring of 2013.  For specific information including class availability, class description, registration, tuition, accommodations, etc., please contact the individual workshop organizers listed on the ' 13 Contact Info page.

Start the spring season with Mel in beautiful Cape May, New Jersey.  His 2012 work- shop in Cape May was enjoyed by all who attended.  Mel will be conducting a four-day, indoor and plein air (weather permitting) workshop in May, which is an ideal time of year  (that being the summer vacationers haven't yet arrived!). Enjoy Cape May's historic streets and hundreds of gingerbread-trimmed Victorian homes with wide front porches that can be seen while taking a leisurely walk or while touring on horse-drawn carriages.  There is much to do...from art galleries and antique shops to the Cape May Bird Observatory and the famous Cape May Lighthouse. Be sure to take a relaxing stroll on Cape May's promenade ("boardwalk"), which is almost two miles long and offers a scenic view of the ocean.  Join Mel in lovely Cape May for a spring workshop!

Mel is looking forward to conducting a one-day workshop in Fairfield, New Jersey in May for the Art@1275 Studio and Gallery.  Located in Essex County, Art@1275 is ideal for an indoor workshop with its large, open studio.  With ample wall space, the gallery has group shows as well as solo exhibitions.  They have an open studio program and offer various art excursions to New York City.  For those whose schedules won't allow time for longer workshops, this one-day class  being held on a Sunday is perfect.  Mel will also be teaching another one-day class at Art@1275 in September. You are welcome to join one or both classes.  Sign up soon!

Beautiful Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania is where Mel will be conducting a four-day, plein air workshop in early June...a perfect time of year for an outdoor workshop.  Located southwest of Philadelphia and close to the Delaware border, Chadds Ford is rich in rustic farmland, country roads, meadows with wildflowers, historic stone inns...all of which  make ideal painting locales.  Chadds Ford is known for being Andrew Wyeth's birthplace and home.  The famous Brandywine River Museum, which is a century-old gristmill, is home to one of the largest collections of works by three generations of Wyeths.  Join Mel for a relaxing outdoor workshop.  We are organizing this workshop ourselves so contact us soon for specific information!

Mel concludes his spring schedule in Montgomery, New York where he will be conducting a one-day workshop for the Wallkill River School & Art Gallery. This workshop will take place outdoors in early June, which brings comfortable temperatures for plein air painting.  The village of Montgomery is located in the beautiful Hudson Valley and has many historic homes, buildings, churches, and farms.  The Wallkill River School & Art Gallery is a non-profit artist's cooperative that runs an art school and fine art gallery. For those whose busy work schedules don't allow time for weekday workshops, this one-day Saturday watercolor workshop  is perfect.  Mel will be having another one-day class in Montgomery in October.  You are welcome to join one or both classes.  Contact the Wallkill River School today!

Mel heads west to the beautiful seaside community of Newport Beach, California where he will be conducting a four-day workshop in June.  Located in Orange County, the temperate climate and relaxed atmosphere of Newport Beach makes it an ideal place for painting outdoors.  Newport Beach is renowned for its quaint villages and picturesque islands as well as for its famous shopping boutiques and restaurants.  There are endless places to visit in Newport Beach including Balboa Island with its many yachts and scenic harbor, magnificent Corona del  Mar known as the "Crown of the Sea" situated between  the cliffs and the magnificent San Joaquin Hills and Pacific Ocean, and historic San Juan Capistrano Mission with its 10 acres of beautiful lush gardens and fountains surrounded by adobe walls.. all of which are great painting locations.  Join Mel in Newport Beach this spring... a painter's paradise.
