FALL 2013

Here are descriptions of where Mel will be conducting workshops in the fall of 2013. For specific information including class availability, class description, registration, tuition, accommodations, etc., please contact the individual workshop organizers listed on our ' 13 Contact Info page.

Mel will be returning to his homestate in September to conduct a three-day workshop in Island Heights, New Jersey for the Ocean County Artists' Guild.  The town of Island Heights is situated in the middle of a federally registered historic district between Barnegat Bay and the Toms River with more than 375 Victorian era structures. Take a relaxing stroll through the lovely streets to view the beautiful Victorian architecture or walk along the picturesque waterfront.  The Artists' Guild, which is located on a quiet street along the Toms River, is part of a beautiful historic Victorian house originally built in 1880.  This workshop will consist of three days painting indoors and one day painting outdoors (weather permitting). September is a great time of year in Island Heights when the weather is comfortable and the summer vacationers have returned home!

Enjoy a fall workshop on beautiful Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.  Mid-September is a perfect time for an outdoor workshop here weatherwise and otherwise because the cooler, comfortable temperatures make for delightful plein air painting and the summer crowds are gone for the season!  Martha's Vineyard is a beautiful island located off the coast of Cape Cod, just a 45-minute ferryboat ride from the harbortown of Woods Hole.  Numerous painting locales abound including the colonial picturesque seaport of Edgartown; Menemsha Harbor with its boathouses, fishing boats, and docks; Edgartown Lighthouse; and Oak Bluffs.  The Vineyard has many great restaurants that offer the best and freshest seafood and other fare.  A truly ideal place for a watercolor workshop!
Mel makes a return visit to Fairfield, New Jersey at the end of September where he will be conducting a one-day workshop for Art@1275 Studio & Gallery. Located in Essex County, Art@1275 is ideal for an indoor workshop with its large, open studio.  With ample wall space, the gallery has group shows as well as solo exhibitions.  They have an open studio program and offer various art excursions to New York City.  For those whose schedules won't allow time for longer workshops and for those who are busy working during the week, this one-day class being held on a Saturday is ideal.  Mel will also be teaching another one-day class at Art@1275 in May.  You are welcome to join one or both classes.  Be sure to sign up soon!

Mel returns to Montgomery, New York where he will be conducting a one-day, outdoor on location workshop in the beginning of October... a great time of year for plein air painting... for the Wallkill River School & Art Gallery. The village of Montgomery is located in the beautiful Hudson Valley and has many historic homes, buildings, churches, and farms.  The Wallkill River School & Art Gallery is a non-profit artist's cooperative that runs an art school and fine art gallery.  This Saturday watercolor workshop is perfect for  those whose schedules don't allow time for a weekday workshop.  Mel will be having another one-day class in Montgomery in June.  You are welcome to join one or both classes.  Contact the Wallkill River School today!
