MEL STABIN, AWS                                   WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS

SUMMER 2017

Here are descriptions of where Mel will be conducting workshops in the summer of 2017. For specific information including class availability, class description, registration, tuition, etc., please contact the individual workshop organizers listed on our '17 Contact Info page.

Summer begins in beautiful Bellagio, Lake Como, Italy in June. Located in northern Italy and surrounded by mountains and hills, Lake Como provides breathtaking scenery with its Mediterranean villas and lovely gardens. The walled Old Town has many 400-year-old buildings with magnificent architecture.  The historic lakeside village of Bellagio, which is known as the "Pearl of the Lake," has picturesque stone lanes and cobbled stairways, piazzas, churches, and parks as well as quaint shops and wonderful cafes.  We'll enjoy the mild climate while we paint and when we do some sightseeing. This workshop is being organized by Flying Colors Art Workshops, which organizes all of Mel's workshops in Europe, and, as always, choose quality, comfortable accommodations. A delightful summer painting holiday awaits!

Mel's summer travels continue when he arrives in beautiful Belfast, Maine where he will conduct a five-day, outdoor on location workshop in July. Belfast sits on a hill overlooking the beautiful waters of Penobscot Bay and is well known for its picturesque working waterfront and harbors with tugboats, sea captains' mansions, and ocean vistas all of which make for great painting locales.  Take a leisurely walk in Belfast's historic downtown with its more than fifteen galleries.  Coastal Maine Art Workshops will be our host. Belfast, which is located about two hours up the coast from Portland, is the perfect summer destination for a watercolor workshop!

Mel heads down to Norcross, Georgia in August to conduct a four-day indoor workshop.  The Kudzu Art Zone Gallery and Art Center, which is sponsoring this workshop, holds member exhibitions throughout the year and offers a variety of classes including watercolor, oil, pastel, and sketching.  Located just 20 miles outside of Atlanta, Kudzu Art Zone is housed in a beautiful 3200 square foot building with nearby parks and restaurants. Each day you'll see Mel do a class demonstration  followed by one-on-one instruction, and then a class critique all of which is done in a casual and friendly atmosphere. To find out more and how to register, contact Kudzu Art Zone today!
